Intensive Russian Assaults Eliminate Electricity Across Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in the region
The country's energy systems have faced escalating strikes in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian aerial assaults have resulted in power cuts in extensive areas of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while residents in eastern districts were plunged into darkness and dealt with interruptions to water supplies, according to city officials.

At the same time, a young boy was fatally injured in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, based on information from local officials.

Russian forces has escalated attacks on energy facilities over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "real steps" from international partners to apply pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not window dressing but firm measures - from the United States, Europe and the major economies - in providing protection systems and applying penalties," mentioned in a social media post.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 missiles targeted energy facilities, labeling such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Russia was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were laboring to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes hit energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in the capital.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the strikes on the city have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by municipal representatives.

Local officials said the metropolitan region came under intense attacks throughout the evening. A seven-year-old child was killed and several individuals were injured.

The strikes follow nights of bombing campaigns in the region, sections of which are currently controlled by invading troops.

The whole nation is in a state of readiness for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are harder to detect.

Authorities told the media that Moscow was intentionally trying to damage the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already affecting fuel infrastructure.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and government agencies were bracing for additional strikes.
